Grand President Bertha Richmond replies to H.F. Gunnison's June 18 letter, that as president of a secret fraternity she cannot discuss the Beta Beta chapter matter. Gunnison, a St. Lawrence University alumnae and the business manager of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, had expressed his dismay on the Beta Beta chapter charter controversy. Gunnison had notified Richmond that legal action would soon begin, and Richmond asks about it. There is a note on the back, Plaintiffs' Exhibit 17, with descriptive information, "Can't stop the vote, she did stop Aug 27 under practice of House of Representatives." Presumably this letter served as evidence in the Beta Beta chapter lawsuit against the fraternity. Gunnison's letters are also available.
