Edmund Whitman to Ledyard Hale Letter, June 20, 1898

Attorney Edmund Whitman replies to Beta Beta chapter attorney Ledyard Hale that he has just met with attorney Nelson Robinson, learning legal proceedings are beginning. Whitman has counselled Grand President Bertha Richmond to delay the vote, to spare legal trouble. The Grand Council has not yet voted on the Beta Beta chapter charter withdrawal. (Note that Edmund Whitman is married to a Beta Beta chapter member, Florence Josephine Lee Whitman.)
