This gavel, made from the walnut stair rail in Monmouth College's "Old Main," was presented to Kappa Kappa Gamma by Mrs. Thomas H. McMichael, wife of the fourth president of Monmouth College. The gavel was used to open conventions from 1928 until 1964, after which it was damaged in the 1965 fire at Fraternity Headquarters.
