Bruton Parish Church Photograph, c. 1933


Here, with a bit of its churchyard, is Bruton Parish church, the court church of colonial Virginia. Restored in 1905 under the direction of the Reverend W. A. R. Goodwin, its rector, it was the forerunner of the entire Williamsburg restoration. A post-convention tour following the 1952 National Convention visited Williamsburg. This photograph was featured on page 363 of the December 1933 issue of The Key.
