Williamsburg Public Gaol Photograph

Built about 1701, restored in 1935, for the Virginia Colony, this stout prison served primarily for the imprisonment of persons awaiting trial at the nearby Capitol. A post-convention tour following the 1952 National Convention visited Williamsburg. This photograph was featured on page 127 of the April 1952 issue of The Key.
