Many Kappas are involved in field research and behind-the-scenes work on the National Geographic Society. Lila Mueller Bishop is the wife of Barry Bishop, one of the society's best-known explorers. She co-authored the story on Nepal in the November 1971 issue of the magazine, and has contributed to numerous other stories. Elizabeth Goble Sale McGahn and her husband Jerry were recent guest contributors to the magazine. Other Kappas are editorial researchers, television department researchers, writer secretaries, and research correspondents.
