Alumnae News: Names in the News, Winter 1971


Bettie Gray Cox was the chairman of the 21st annual Festival of Arts in Birmingham, Alabama. Lorraine Shirley recently received an honorary doctor of letters degree from Texas Christian University where she is a professor of literature. Angela Ambrose has entered graduate school at the University of Texas. As an undergraduate she was president of her chapter, a member of Mortar Board and Angel Flight, Miss TCU, TCU Sweetheart, and AFROTC sweetheart. Haidee Carll Stewart recently received the USO Gold Medallion Award for 18 years of volunteer work in the administration and development of the USO in Los Angeles. Susan Alder Sydney has been appointed copy group head by LaRoche, McCaffrey and McCall, a New York City Advertising Agency. H. Willette Bland, Ruth Celestia Dibert, and Helen Marjorie Cols Smith have retired. Various members of the Baltimore Alumnae Association are involved in interesting and varied fields. Kate Jackson has been seen frequently on network television in such roles as Daphne Harridge on Dark Shadows and in cameo on The Jimmy Stewart Show.
