The History of Kappa Kappa Gamma 1870-1970: IX. Looking to the Second Century 1960-1970

The ninth section of the history of Kappa describes a new fraternity challenge: keeping up with social change. Pledge training methods were re-imaged, and a pledge handbook, A Key to Kappa Knowledge, was published in 1962. External attacks upon the Fraternity system continued to mount, and a disastrous fire at Fraternity Headquarters in February 1965 required a complete restoration of headquarters. In Winter of 1966, a Centennial Fund was established and bolstered by alumne projects. The Reference Study committee was established in 1968 to reform the membership process. As of 1970, Kappa looks towards the future with hope and promise, after a century of scholarship, service, and fraternity loyalty.
