The History of Kappa Kappa Gamma 1870-1970: VII. The War Years and After 1940-1950

The seventh section of the history of Kappa describes the entry of Kappa into the war period, in which the mood of the fraternity became somber and purposeful. The era saw minor changes to Council Office positions, the sponsorship of Service Women's sections, and the creation of a Foreign Fellowship program and a Foreign Study Scholarship. Due to war complications, the 1944 Convention was canceled in favor of a simple meeting of officers. The first Alumnae Achievement awards were given at the 1946 Convention. Post-war the creation of new chapters began once again with increased emphasis on the construction of chapter houses.
