The 1984 Candlelight Banquet featured an address by Elizabeth May. The Candlelight Banquet service began in 1935 at the Alpha Province Convention. Grand President Charlotte Ware passed one of her candlesticks to a delegate from the oldest chapter and one to the youngest, symbolizing the eternal flame lighting the way for each generation.
