Carla Sargent to Beta Beta Chapter Letter, May 28, 1898

Grand Secretary Carla Sargent writes to the Beta Beta chapter sisters with regrets on the fraternity motion to withdraw Beta Beta chapter's charter. Sargent informs the chapter that the matter has been informally considered for two years. The judgement is whether St. Lawrence University is of adequate standing to maintain a chapter. The motion has just been put (to the other chapters' vote), and Sargent informs that the current members would not be affected, as the motion would limit new members. There is a note on the back, Defendants' Exhibit B, with descriptive information. Presumably this letter served as evidence in the Beta Beta chapter lawsuit against the fraternity. This letter is included related materials in the collection.
