"Heart Wisdom" is a modern poem with some influences of early free-verse poetry. It is of alexandrine meter and largely formed of rhyming couplets. The poem describes a beautiful youth who reads a book while sitting beside an open window. He quickly becomes enthralled by a sunset which makes him unaware of "self and life and time." This experience teaches him that literary and academic studies are useless without attention to the natural world.
