Thoreau's Experiment at Walden

The Key, Vol. 4, No. 2, March 1887

Rather than providing a review of Thoreau's "Walden," this expository essay celebrates Thoreau's strength of character. It claims that Thoreau was neither, "a churl or cynic," but instead a "poet, moralist, and philosopher." Although some call Thoreau's experiment at Walden uncalled for, the author has a deep reverence and thankfulness for Thoreau's work.
