The first portion of the poem read at the 1886 National Convention is comprised of alternate rhyme quatrains. This section illustrates a natural scene where "butterflies rode on sunbeams" and "the clover blished and nodded." In the second portion, the author reminisces on a Christmas story through a ballad. The third portion returns to alternate rhyme quatrains, and tells Kappa that the story detailed in the ballad means that Kappas must "live and work together like a perfect chime of bells."
