The Fraternity Meeting at Philadelphia

The Golden Key, Vol. 1, No. 4, June 1883


This report summarizes the 1883 Inaugural Fraternity Editors' Convention held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The main aim of the convention was to establish whether there was interest in planning a Pan-Hellenic Conference in the future, when and where it ought to be held, and what subjects ought to be discussed. At conclusion, it was established that a conference would take place on July 4, 1884 in New York, New York. It was also established that any fraternity with over three living chapters would be allowed entry, and that the topic would be the promotion of inter-fraternity courtesy and the advancement of general interests.
