Editorial: The Anti-Fraternity Epidemic

The Golden Key, Vol. 1, No. 3, March 1883

This article claims that anti-fraternity sentiment is waning, that the "end of the coercion policy is near," and that the charges against fraternities have become issues of frivolity, not of immorality. It also traces a brief history of fraternities in the United States college system, and adds that the perceived "evil" of fraternity men is only the evils of certain individuals that become noticed in a group. Finally, the current source of anti-fraternity sentiment is concern by College and University faculties that the fraternities will become more powerful than the institution.
