This sonnet tells the tale of the narrator, who upon looking out of an ordinary window finds herself transported to a land of ancient Egypt, where she and her sister priestess rule with an iron fist. One night, she comes before the Sphinx and becomes aware of the cruelty of her ways and in awe of a greater power: "a risen god." She then fights wars against other rulers and wicked men to change their ways, because they are one with the earth, and human beings do not belong behind bars.
