Ida McMillan to Katherine Doty Letter, October 1, 1908

Miss Doty researched the early days of the fraternity, and sent letters to the founders and early members. She asked Ida McMillan about her experience of the 1876 National Convention, who attended as a charter member of Delta. McMillan recounted the first meeting in which officers were elected, which she hosted in her own home on January 13, 1873. She also mentions the death of founder Anna Elizabeth Willits Pattee, and the story of how the badge was designed at her home, with the assistance of Pattee's mother. McMillan claimed that Delta took on many responsibilities to lead the fraternity, as Alpha chapter had become very inactive during the late 1870s.
