Tade Hartsuff to Mary Hull Typed Letter, c. 1898

Former Grand President Tade Hartsuff appeals to The Key Editor Mary J. Hull on the Beta Beta chapter charter withdrawal controversy, advocating for Beta Beta. As a former fraternity officer, Hartsuff considers the recent fraternity actions as a 'shabby trick' and a 'setup job.' Hartsuff does not yet know the charges against the chapter, and expounds on the constitution, and the merits of small colleges. This typed version of the letter appears to be attributed to Mary Kingsbury Simkhovitch, yet the content appears to be Hartsuff's, as she was identified with the fraternity policy of expansion. A photocopied handwritten version of this letter is available.
