This gavel was fashioned from a human humerus bone and decorated with silver embellishments. The silver cap on the end of the handle is engraved with a fleur-de-lis, the year 1893, and Beta Iota. The silver band around the center of the bone is engraved with Kappa Kappa Gamma. The gavel was presented to Beta Iota Chapter in the year of their founding by the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity chapter at Swarthmore College.
