Anna Willits Pattee Childhood Home Photograph, October 1934

The exterior of the home of Judge Elias and Elizabeth Willits at 505 West 3rd Avenue, the childhood home of Kappa founder Anna Willits Pattee. This home is where the founders decided on the golden key as the badge of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Legend has it that Anna's mother was sitting in the room at the left of the front door sewing and the founders were in the room at the right talking to one another. When they came to the point of wondering what their badge should be, they asked Mrs. Willits what she would suggest and she said "a key to lock up your secrets." This photograph is part of a series taken by Cleora Wheeler during a trip to Monmouth for the installation of Alpha Deuteron Chapter.
