Elizabeth Snider Simmons headed the Decatur (Illinois) Day Nursery Board in caring for the children of working mothers in the 1940s. Decatur had a day nursery for children of working mothers since the First World War. This photograph was featured on page 22 of the February 1944 issue of The Key.
