Elsie Thurber Sanderson and Hazel Fenton Schermerhorn were members of the D.A.R. Elsie and Hazel met at the national congress of the D.A.R. when Elsie was elected to a three year term as custodian of the New York State Society of the D.A.R. Hazel was the corresponding secretary-general of the D.A.R. in the 1950s. This photograph was featured on page 254 of the October 1950 issue of The Key.
