Virginia Haywood with Jet Engine Turbo Starter and Turbo Drive Photograph, October 31, 1956


Virginia Haywood is a jet engine compressor designer for General Electric. She is also G.E.'s nomination for "prettiest engineer." When the Society of Automotive Engineers met in Los Angeles (California), Virginia manned G.E.'s Aircraft Accessory Turbine Department's exhibit, which included the jet engine turbo starter (right) and the turbo drive (left). This photograph was featured on page 347 of the Winter 1957 issue of The Key.
