Betty Ruth Scott was the fourth Phi Beta Kappa inductee in her immediate family. Her mother, Dorothy Carnine Scott, father, Dr. Ewing C. Scott, and sister, Dorothy Scott Gibbs, were also Phi Beta Kappa members. Betty's grandfather, great-uncle, and aunt were also Phi Beta Kappa members.
