Carol Shanesy, a senior systems engineer at IBM, poses while being honored with a special civil commendation by the New York City Police Department. Shanesy was honored for a system she designed to search the NYPD's master fingerprint database and match fingerprints to a single suspect. This photograph was featured on page 11 of the Winter 1980 issue of The Key.
