Catherine Mitchell is recognized by Lieutenant Governor Dennis Wicker for her work in lobbying the North Carolina legislature to pass stricter drunk-driving laws. Catherine organized a student group to promote stricter penalties for drunk driving after two students were killed by an impaired driver in 1996. This photograph was featured on page 46 of the Summer 1998 issue of The Key.
