General Federation of Women's Clubs Members Group in France Photograph, 1919


These women are members of the General Federation of Women's Clubs Unit of the Y.M.C.A. They met at a hospital in Liverpool in January of 1919 where many women died from flu, pneumonia, and cholera. Standing are Bertha Gilbert, Daphne Sulden, Virginia Cross, and Dawn Turbiline. Seated are Rose Kauffman, Doris Mauck, and Charlotte Chaffee. The back of the photograph notes the women depicted, but is missing one individual in the back row.
