Raleigh Tavern Photograph, c. 1933

A center of social and political activity in 18th century Williamsburg, the Raleigh tavern was the site where, on December 5, 1776, students of the College of William and Mary founded the Phi Beta Kappa society. A post-convention tour following the 1952 National Convention visited Williamsburg. This photograph was featured on page 367 of the December 1933 issue of The Key.
