Dark Print of Ware, Shryock, and Schofield Break First Ground at Kappa Shrine Photograph, July 10, 1940

Former Grand Presidents Charlotte Ware, retiring President Rheva Shryock, and newly elected President Elizabeth Schofield participate in the first ceremony at the Kappa Shrine. Ware turned the first earth on the hillside where the shrine would later be built. Looking over their shoulders, from left to right, are Jonathan Duncan, Mr. Rogers, and Mrs. McNaboe. The shrine is located on the Fleur-de-Lis Trail, dedicated to Kappa Kappa Gamma by the management of the Sun Valley Lodge. This photograph was featured on page 298 of The Key, October 1940.
