The first part of the editorial is crafted around the criticism of one "barb" (non-affiliated college student) of the latest edition of the Key. They editors admit to minor mistakes in the first publication of the Key, but are affronted by the implication that the Key "floats the white ribbon" rather than being a true fraternity. The white ribbon is a ribbon worn by members of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union to promote the cause and symbolize purity. The editors state that, while of course they support temperance, there is no fraternal bond to that cause. The Kappa bond is of an entirely different variety. In the next portion, Key editors discourage Kappas from engaging in argument with non-fraternity members about the virtues of fraternity life, as neither party will learned. In the third portion of the editorial, the editors encourage increased alumnae activity in the form of alumnae chapters.
