The History of Kappa Kappa Gamma 1870-1970: I. The Era of Development 1870-1881

The first section of the Key's history of Kappa describes the founding of Kappa and its early years of existence. Alpha Chapter closed in 1874 after Monmouth banned Greek letter fraternities. Delta chapter then became the first Grand Chapter, likely at the 1876 convention where the bylaws and constitution were born. By 1880, twelve fledgling chapters came into existence.
