Wheeler, Cleora

Cleora Wheeler was a "designer-illuminator." Wheeler studied design and drafting at the University of Minnesota and later took classes at the New York School of Fine and Applied Art (now the Parsons The New School for Design). Returning to Minnesota, Wheeler established her own studio in St. Paul where she designed custom bookplates, greeting cards, and wedding invitations. In addition to being a successful artist, Wheeler was a devoted Kappa, holding several leadership positions over the years and creating the insignia for the 1930 History of Kappa Kappa Gamma as well as various other Kappa insignias and bookplates. In 1952, Cleora Wheeler was awarded the KKG Alumnae Achievement Award, the fraternity's highest honor for personal and professional achievement.
