Phi Chapter, Boston, Surrenders Charter

The difficult decision has been made to surrender the charter of the Phi chapter. The Boston University chapter has struggled for some time. The large urban university suffered hostility to the greek system and increasing off-campus housing and commuter students. Operation Greek was brought in, rush became informal, and the sororities themselves began self-evaluative programs, still last year, no girls could be found. The Phi chapter has a great heritage. Three grand presidents between 1884 and 1900 were members, the chapter had the editorship of The Key for its early year, and the only woman to receive a French Gold Medal of Honor was from Phi.
